Nature
Having always been attracted to nature’s creatures and plants of all kinds, they are a frequent subject for my paintings. There are many birds here, including chickadees, nuthatch, robin, cardinal and osprey. My husband’s hands hold a trout he just caught in the Farmington River. My cat is napping in the sun. A friend’s dog portrait, jungle frog, a young doe, and blue-footed boobies are also here. The colors and shapes of the autumn are wonderful subjects as shown in the “Sumac Splendor” and “Fall Leaves” paintings. You'll see: a memory from Alaska: Dall's sheep with Denali in the distance; iridescent Moonjellies floating in the blue sea, and a butterfly sipping nectar from flowers; and my son's close encounter with a peacock at a nature reserve in all it's glorious plumage. We visited Shelburne Farm in Vermont and found the cow barn- they all turned to look at us! I wonder what will capture my imagination next.
