The catch-all category of portraits, interiors, jewelry and a musical instrument. People’s faces are a continuous source of interest and a great challenge to paint. In each portrait I’ve tried to catch a little bit of the person behind the image. Light still has the greatest impact in choosing these subjects- see the outside light illuminating the inside of the covered bridge, the folds in the paper snowflake, and the shiny reflections in the snare drum and bracelet. So many wonderful things to paint and so little time!
